Moorooduc Pinot Gris on Skins

Is it a white, is it a red, is it a rosé? Yes!! A retired surgeon with a desire to do something different other than improving his golf handicap creates his own vineyard from scratch in the rolling fields of Mornington. Having tried his hand at Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to great affect, he wonders what he can do to revitalize the humble Pinot Gris grape. Bingo! Give it prolonged skin contact during fermentation just like a red. Result - a delicate watermelon pink rose smelling of delicate plums, a hint of violet and fennel. The palate delivers red berries, a touch of spice and the weight of delicate tannins. Serve slightly chilled, close your eyes and contemplate this multifaceted marvel.
