Loidana Blanc

A blend of Viognier, Macabeo, Garnacha Blanca and Picapoll Blanco grapes cultivated on the steep, slate/quartz slopes of Priorat - a mountainous enclave approximately 75 miles South west of Barcelona. Priorat is more famous for its reds but it has been developing a growing reputation for its whites and Marco Abella excels at both. The Abella family have been making wine in this region since the 15th Century and accordingly they have acquired a number of prized plots in the rugged terraces that surround the celebrated village of Porrera. At almost 2000 feet in altitude , these plots can produce white wines that still retain enough acidity to maintain freshness in the wines. On the nose citrus, white peach and a hint of jasmine lead to a lemon, pear and apricot finish on the tongue.
