The grapes are harvested quite late in the growing season and are often attacked by botrytis. This gives generous, riper, richer styles of wine with a hint of sweetness that you would get from ripe red apples and a touch of stone fruit. A lick of oak gives creaminess and butteriness and all the good stuff you would expect from classy French winemakers.
